'23 Captains Announced: Six Ghosts have been named captain.

We are less than a week away from the first game of the season as the Ghosts face off against the Lowell Raiders at Trustees Field.

The team has also announced the six players who have been named team captains for the 2023 season. The players that will rock the “C” on their jerseys this season are QB Jake Cullen, Offensive/ Defensive Tackle Chris Czado, Middle Linebacker Shane Clark, Defensive End Jack Nelken, Cornerback/Receiver Nick Russo, and Safety/ Receiver Alex Wilson.

Jake Cullen- Sr 6'3 185: The URI baseball commit will begin his 3rd season as QB1 for WA. His overall record at starting QB is 13-6. He was an all conference selection last year.

Chris Czado- Sr 6'3 240: 2 year starter for the Ghosts will protect the QBs blind side. Czado also looks to make an impact on the defensive side of the ball this year playing defensive tackle. Chris is a member of the Spring Track Team.

Shane Clark- Sr 5'10 195: Shane will be one of the leaders on the defensive side of the ball playing middle linebacker. He will also anchor the O-line, being 1 of 2 returning starters at that position. Shane is also Captain of the Wrestling team in the winter.

Jack Nelken- Sr 6'1 205: Jack joined the football team last year as a Junior. His work ethic propelled him to the top of the depth chart last season. The respect he has gained from his teammates and coaching staff made this 2nd year football player an easy choice for Captain. He is also captain of the Varsity Hockey Team.

Nick Russo- Sr 6'1 185: Nick started at Cornerback last year for Ghosts. He worked hard in the offseason and put on about 20 pounds of muscle. This year Nick will look to also make an impact on the offensive side of the ball, he will be playing wide receiver. Nick is a member of the Varsity Basketball and Track team at WA.

Alex Wilson- Jr 6'1 175: Alex is the second Junior to be selected as captain in the past 10 years at WA. XFL QB Connor Degenhardt was the other one in 2014. Alex is a 2 year starter on the defensive side of the ball. So far at camp he has shown that he can be an explosive player on the offensive side of the ball. Alex plays basketball and wrestles in the offseason.
