After an eagerly awaited matchup, the Westford Ghosts returned home with a decisive 42-14 victory over the Chelmsford Lions. Dominating on both offense and defense, the team showcased powerful plays across the board to secure the win.
QB Alex Wilson continued to play well, he had 60 yards rushing and 115 yards passing. He threw 2 touchdown passes and also scored on a 6-yard run. Running back Jesse Moran was strong on the ground, gaining 135 yards and scoring twice on runs.
WR/C Ryan Kyle had a special night for the Ghosts. He hauled in a TD reception and returned an interception 40 yards for a score. Kyle also was 6-for-6 on extra-point kicks.
Athlete Evan Pasters showed the type of speed he has when he gets into the open field with scores of 20 and 35 yards. The Oline consisting of Chris Chaisson, Owen Kenefic, Connor Knoettner, Ian Welsh, Ben Durgin, JJ Wilson, Chris Butts and Quinn Reynolds controlled the line of scrimmage all night. The Ghosts offense had over 250 yards of rushing.
Coach G’s Defense had a great night. The leading scorers on Defense this week were D linemen Connor Knoettner and Chris Butts.
Throughout the past week, they put in tireless hours of practice, honing key areas and formations in preparation for the game. Senior Captain and Wide Receiver Evan Pasters highlighted the team’s commitment, noting, “(We’re) mainly just practicing what we’re good at and making sure we can get it right.”
Senior Linebacker Sean Cryan emphasized the team’s primary goal for the season: winning the DCL Championship. Ahead of the Chelmsford game, Cryan expressed both the team’s and his own ambitions, saying, “Our goal is to win the DCL… I just want to go out and play the best I can.”
The next DCL showdown will be against Lincoln-Sudbury this Saturday, November 2, at the Haunted House. Students and spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer on the team as they take another vital step toward the DCL Championship.
